If your program is written down, you can import it instead of rebuilding it by hand. Grain Gym reads it from a JSON file in its program format, and a sample is on the features page.

Start the import

Open Library, go to Programs, tap Create Program, then choose Import JSON. You can pick a file or paste the JSON.

Read the preview

Before anything is saved, the preview shows the program's week schedule, its progression rules and each workout. It also checks every exercise name against the 448 exercises in the catalog.

  • Matched names found in the catalog, shown as your name and the exercise it matched.
  • Will Create names with no match, which become custom exercises.
  • Unresolved names that couldn't be placed, with the reason.

If a Repairs to review section appears, read it before you import. It lists what Grain Gym adjusted so the file would load.

If the import fails

The Import Failed screen lists what needs attention. Some problems come with an available repair that you can review and apply. You can also copy the diagnostics, try again, or choose another file. My imported program didn't map cleanly covers the common cases.

Run it

When the import succeeds you can start the program right away or find it in your library. Open the first session and compare its targets with your original plan before you log anything.
